Accra Institute of Technology to offer Open University of Malaysia programmes

Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) is to provide the Open University Malaysia (OUM) to transform Ghana into a program of higher education within the sub-region of West Africa and beyond.

Under the Partnership Agreement, the AIT is half of 2010, which offers undergraduate and graduate programs using open learning infrastructure and technologies. Dr. Abdualai Salifu Baba, Director General, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has announced in a press conference in Accra on Thursday.

He explained that OUM was established by 11 public universities in Malaysia and had been approved by the National Accreditation Council to provide more than 71 programs under the partnership agreement with AIT.

Said Dr. Salifu CSIR proud to be associated with the program to encourage the development of human resources in the country and “to cooperate and communicate with international and local research and development organizations. He said that the rate at which developed countries such as Malaysia, South Korea and other Asian countries have made progress, highlights the fact that the source of wealth and power of a nation depends on progress in education, science and technology. Dr. Salifu praised the Open University program, adding that many countries have praised the initiative is essential to reduce costs and make higher education accessible to many people. ”By equipping our people with more knowledge, would be empowered to develop successful solutions to our central problem of poverty,” he said.

He told the Ghana News Agency, that the Academic Association of Ghana, an opportunity for students who graduated from universities that “almost ready to set up an economic activity on their own or be absorbed by the public service.”
