Boxee Gets in the box, D-Link

by benny on December 8, 2009

The Buzzy (Link and buzz-worthy) Christmas software for managing online video has become a set-top box, with the help of D-. So instead of using your laptop or a Mac Mini running Boxee alternative, you can now buy a piece of hardware (with an oven in boxing) and plop on your TV. Yay! Another picture of the room! Merry Christmas!
Boxee has so far been a piece of software code without the body needs a host device, which now becomes a thing. And the image of “Boxing is a strange D-Link. The designers have made to appear as a black square that sank half of the surface on which you sit. So, try something above.
D-Link said it believes that the new image looks strange at all. A company representative said that the money will be available in stores in the first half of 2010, although the price has not yet been determined. ” And the D-Link box is not only Boxee box. A company representative told me that D-Link has a window of exclusivity with Boxee, according to other box makers can join the party.

Boxing Box connects to your home network via Wi-Fi (802.11n) and / or Ethernet. The device connects to your TV via HDMI, SPDIF, RCA, and has 2 USB expansion ports.

Boxee, in a word or a black box is a free software that lets you navigate through archived footage, TV shows, music and photos, and to provide content on Web sites like MLB, Netflix, Pandora, Last. FM, Flickr and a screen with a remote control. You can also use the remote for the moment the sample or share favorite clips with friends via Twitter and Facebook.

When the beta to come in, Boxee has also announced a series of improvements in its interface, which supports research, organize, store and share video web content much easier. You can view the changes in the specific interface here. Boxee also announced some more content partners, including Click, evasion and Suicide Girls.

Glad to see Boxee enter beta, adding content and find their way into hardware. However, I am not sure the world needs another set-top box dedicated to go with your DVD player, cable tuner, audio, etc, etc, but until manufacturers step up to HDTV pliers and start software building TVs connected Boxee is a pain that must be addressed.
