Singapore, China to enhance co-op in science, technology

Singapore and China Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (SCAAST), the first NGO created on Friday to promote scientific and technological exchange between the two countries.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held today, Grace Fu, Senior Minister of State for the Singapore Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Education, praised China for its economic success and development of science and technology.

“China has made great progress and remarkable success in terms of science and technology, production and construction of cities. China has become the base for the manufacturing industry in the world and household products, he said, adding that” industries such as aerospace engineering, bio technology and the diagnosis of disease and the expansion of treatment to grow at an impressive rate.

He said there are many areas in which Singapore and China can learn from each other. Citing the Suzhou-Singapore Industrial Park and the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city as examples of joint cooperation, Fu said that Singapore is an old friend of China and has the opportunity to participate in the process of economic liberalization porcelain.

SCAAST also encouraged to reach a broader and deeper cooperation in science and technology, and allow scientists, inventors and engineers to establish links with industry and closer collaboration between the two countries.
